GUIDELINES FOR PLEDGE GROUPS

A Rainbow Pledge Group is for girls 8, 9, and 10 years of age.

The standard Pledge Ritual for Texas Grand Assembly Pledge Groups is the Pledge Ritual available from Supreme Assembly as modified and reformatted for use in Texas.  These Rituals are ordered from the Pledge Program Director for Texas.

Sponsorship for a Pledge Group can be by members of the local Grand Cross of Color or by the local Assembly.

A girl must fill out a “Petition for Membership” available from the Pledge Program Director.

A girl must be recommended by any Pledge, Rainbow Girl or Grand Cross of Color member, and must have the approval of a member of the Masonic Lodge, OES, Amaranth or White Shrine.

There are NO dues or initiation fees.

The Pledge Group should have a Pledge Mother who should be a Grand Cross of Color member and should be a member of the Advisory Board.  If a Master of the Grand Cross of Color is unavailable, the Pledge Mother may be an older Rainbow Girl or an adult.  If the Pledge Mother is not a Grand Cross Master, a member of the Advisory Board should be appointed as Associate Pledge Mother to advise the Pledge Mother.

The Pledge Ritual gives the nine officers and the symbols of each office.

The term of office should be the same as the local Rainbow Assembly.  Installation of officers should be on the same day as the Rainbow Assembly.  It’s nice to include their list of officers in the program and allow them to use the Assembly’s decorations.

The Pledge Group should meet at least once a month.

There is an official instituting ceremony and the Pledge Group will receive a Certificate of Organization which is the same as a Charter.

“Bless Be the Tie That Binds” is a required song in the Ritual.  Some type of march music is nice while the girls are moving around the room.  Pledges make the greatest square corners!

Pledges wear short dresses of any color to their meetings.  They do NOT wear formals.

This is intended to be a general outline.  More detail is given concerning Pledge Groups in the “Instructions” of the Pledge Ritual.
